College, Courses, Eligibility, Jobs, Salary in India

Biotechnology Engineering is the technology that is used in living organisms to make products or to develop any technology application that uses biological living organisms, systems or derivatives. It tackles biomolecular and cellular processes to build products and technology that will help in improving the health of our planet and our lives. We are using the biological processes of microorganisms for about 6,000 years to make useful food products like cheese, bread and even in preserving dairy products.
From many decades, humans are using biotechnology in food production, agriculture, and medicine. In the early 21st century, biotechnology has grown to include new and diverse science like recombinant gene techniques, genomics, applied immunology, diagnostics tests and growing of pharmaceutical therapies.
  • 10+2 (Senior Secondary Class XII) or equivalent qualifying examination from recognized University/Board with fairly high marks aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology or Agriculture.
  • Those who have finished graduation in engineering technology/sciences/medicine can apply for the M.Sc (Post Graduation) course in biotechnology.
  • Some institutes conduct entrance exams like JEE, or GATE.
Biotechnology Engineering is one of the most beneficial and progressive scientific advances of the last few centuries. It is the field of interdiscipl which includes physics, mathematics, chemistry engineering and others. It also combines different technologies to either modify an existing one or create a new product to suit our needs.
It is a widespread application across different industries like chemical, textiles, bio-products, food, nutrition, pharmaceutical, textiles, animal science and environmental conservation. It makes a career in biotechnology as one of the most fastest developing fields for qualified professional with ample opportunities.
