Petroleum Engineering is a branch of engineering which deals with the activities that are related to the production of hydrocarbons, either it will be natural gas or crude oil. Production and exploration are considered to fall within the upstream sector of the gas and oil industry.
This course will help the students in getting aware of the methodology that is needed in drilling the surfaces of earth for refining petroleum commodities.
For UG course the minimum marks should be 60% in both 10th and 12th with subjects Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
For PG course B.Tech in Petroleum Engineering has to be finished.
Petroleum Engineers have to develop and design the methods for extracting gas and oil from deposits that are below the earth's surface. Even they have to find new ways to get the gas and oil from older wells.
The job of Petroleum Engineers is not restricted only at air-conditioned office, in fact most of the work will be on fields except for those who are responsible for analyzing, for reports and for advising corporate decision-makers on whether to move forward or not.
The field engineers should be mentally and physically strong enough to tolerate long-distance travel, stay and even have to bear uncertain weather conditions.
Petroleum Engineers should have strong and effective communication skills as they have to work with a team of contractors and geologists.
Petroleum Engineers have to search the reservoirs that contain natural gas and oil throughout the world. After discovering these resources they need to have a word with other specialists and geologists.
